In the midst of a financial crisis, Becky's main concern is throwing an elaborate and over-the-top birthday party for Luke? Can you imagine the negative press he would receive for this? Life is supposed to be about growing up and changing, yet Becky remains as childish as ever.

Will Becky ever learn that happiness is not found in her next purchase? She hasn't changed since the first book merely grown more tedious and boring. I cannot imagine what Luke sees in this compulsive shopper. I loved the first Shopaholic books, but wonder if this immature woman will ever grow up.

Kinsella had an opportunity here to develop Becky beyond the shallow consumer who is only interested in the next big thrill into a grown woman who understands that life is not a just party or reason to acquire more stuff. Horriflyingly, she is responsible for a young child, who gives every indication she is becoming as spoiled as her overly indulged mother. This is a 29 year old woman who behaves like a teenager with daddy's credit card. She was a compulsive liar, completely unrealistic and utterly spoiled in the first book and now, several years later, she is exactly the same. Yes, Grey is my preferred Becky but Landor is way better than the one who reads 'and Sister.' The book itself was a huge disappointment. I've listened to all the Shopaholic books on audio.
